Greener Cars
Pollution from transport makes up about 25% of the UK's greenhouse gas emissions. This depletes the ozone layer and severely damages human health.
Making a greener choice of transport can therefore help to make a big difference. And, of course, the car is the best place to start.
Naturally we value our mobility and the car is an essential part of modern life, getting to work, seeing friends and family and so on. But we should value this rather than take it for granted, especially as oil resources become scarcer and more expensive.
It's still early days in the development of greener cars. Electric cars will only be a better alternative if using green electricity. And other energy sources are still mostly at the prototype stage and some years off becoming available on the general market - and at an affordable price!
However, whilst we all wait for greener cars to come of age, there is still a great deal each one of us can do to reduce motoring costs to ourselves and to the environment as other sections on this site describe.
