Playstation 3 gets more energy efficient

Good news for the environment and Sony’s sales I suspect as the new PS3 40gb becomes more energy efficient and cheaper. A reworking of chips and the hardware architecture means the new version of this “must have” gaming kit runs cooler and quieter than the original 60gb version. Backward compatibility with old PS2 games has gone, but that seems a small price to pay for a more peaceful living room and less stressful electricity bills. Plus, this console still doubles up as Blu-ray Hi-definition DVD player, which could save you having yet another energy consuming box under your TV.

Did you know International Car Free Day is on 22nd September?

I’ve just found out it’s International Car Free Day this Saturday – what a great idea. I’m as guilty as everyone else in taking the easy option and getting in the car. It’s only when initiatives like this come along that it makes us think there may be other options to getting around.

The European Mobility Week is trying to encourage us all to get involved; it runs from 16th to the 22nd September. 55 cities and towns across the UK are participating this year. It’s a pity there has not been more coverage in the UK media, as I’m sure congestion free day would be great news for everyone, as a step to changing our car dependency.
